Rainbow Girl

Make the earth shake, break, & tremble

Beneath your patent leather white

Keep the noise abuzz-buzz-buzzing

Deep into my silent night

Throw your echoes down the hallway

Rattle each and every door

Pick up the phone and call long distance

Dallas, Texas: 2 – 1 – 4

Learn the politics of lunatics

Dressed up to sevens, eights, and nines

Don’t forget your promised phone call

Light it up, burn down the lines

Chat-Chat-Chatter of the giggle girls

In the background, on the stage

This is the temporary soundtrack

Silenced when we come of age

Perfect Indigo, how could I know?

Shimmer Orange & Green, paint this machine.

Blue and Violet still, a private dream fulfill.

Red & Yellow swirl, into my Rainbow Girl.

Paint me up some solemn scenery

With your hard brushes: wet, adroit

Tease shades of meaning from my nakedness

Any truth you find, exploit.

Suck the air out of my lungs

Give me life by your forced breath

Cover-up your pain pollution

With rainbow flowers laid down for death

Bleeding Indigo, I should’ve known.

Dizzy Orange & Green, reflecting all I’ve seen.

Blue and Violet kill, the world past my window sill.

Red & Yellow twirl, into my Rainbow Girl.

I was in Raleigh North Carolina for a few days.  At my hotel there was a convention going on for an organization that I honestly feel has had impact on my life without me ever having been a member.  Without going into too many particulars, seeing the people and their activities took me back about 15 years.  I remembered some feelings and thoughts I used to have and  I jotted them down. Here they are.
